SETPLAN
The Queensland Government has introduced new laws, which require young people to be earning or learning. These new laws affect all students in Years 8 - 11 but really impact in Year 10 with all students required to consider their options for the coming years. This requires students to draw up a Setplan. The Setplan is designed to:-
(a) Promote learning that is aligned with the student's aspirations and abilities that leads to the awarding of a Queensland Certificate of Education, OP, Vocational Qualifications or a viable work option
(b) Serve as a reference point or map for the student as they pass through their senior years
(c) Support participation in further education and training
(d) Promote ongoing discussions between students, parents and school staff.
In order for students to start examining their realistic options for further studies or employmnent, Year 10 students are currently engaged in a Careers unit as part of their English studies. This unit will culminate with the preparation of a Setplan. This Setplan is a personal document that must be signed off by the School, Student and Parent. Wednesday, August 26th has been set aside for all students, parents/caregivers for realistic disucssion of student options for the coming years. Please mark this important date in your diary as it is mandated by the Queensland Government that these personal discussions take place and interviews will be conducted with all parents commencing at 9:00 am. Appointmetn details will be available closer to the day.
