Scholarships and Programs of Excellence

Caloundra State High School offers specialst academic and sporting programs  that are designed to assist students in reaching their full potential. These include:


Caloundra State High School in conjunction with the Parents & Citizen's Association offers 15 scholarships to Year 7 students enrolling for 2018.  These excellence scholarships reward outstanding students who have been have succeeded academically, are good role models to their peers and are active participants in community, sporting and cultural activities.
Applicants are required complete and return their scholarship application for consideration,  along with all supporting documentation by post or in person to Caloundra State High School by Friday 10 March 2017


A Scholarship Information session will be held at Caloundra High on Wednesday 1st March 2017 from 3.00pm to 4.00pm in the Conference Room of the Administration Building.


Programs of Excellence

There are a number of Programs of Excellence subjects on offer in academic and sporting pursuits. These programs are designed to assist students in reaching and extending their full potential.
As each program requires a significant commitment of time and effort, it is recommended that students only participate in one Program of Excellence so that they can experience the full benefit of the program. Details about each program are as    follows:
  • Junior Secondary Horizons Academic Excellence (Application Form PDF, 187KB)
  • Year 7 Sports Development Programs of Excellence - Rugby League, Surf Sports and Volleyball Development (Application Form PDF, 152KB)
  • Years 9 and 10 Academically Talented Masterclass Programs in Mathematics, English, Humanities and Science (This will be offered at time of enrolment)
  • Year 8 to 11 Surf Sports Program of Excellence (Application Form PDF, 170KB)
  • Rugby League and Volleyball (Year 8 to 12)  Development Programs (Application Form, PDF 237KB)

Important dates

 Year 7 Scholarship applications close:
  • Friday 10 March 2017


 Year 7 Horizons applications close:

  • Round 1 – Friday 10 March 2017 (major intake)
  • Round 2 – Friday 15 September 2017 (subject to availability)


  Year 8 Horizons applications close:

  • Round 1 – Friday 15 September 2017 (subject to availability)


  Year 7 Volleyball, Rugby League and Surf Sports Development Programs applications close:

  • Round 1 – Friday 10 March 2017 (to be considered for a Sports Scholarship)
  • Round 2 – Friday 11 August 2017

  Year 7 Volleyball and Rugby League Try-out sessions: 

  • Round 1 – Thursday 15 June 2017 (Year 6 High School Experience Day)
  • Round 2 – Wednesday 23 August 2017 (3.00pm to 5.00pm)
