As at 31st March 2020 there has been updates made to the Year 12 Assessment due to the interruption of COVID19.
YEAR 12 QCAA (COVID19 UPDATE)
To alleviate the pressure and disruption currently faced by students, teachers and school communities, the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) has taken the decision to remove one assessment item for each Year 12 General and Essentials (Applied) subject.
This development means that final subject results in General subjects will be calculated from two internal school-based assessments and one external exam developed by the QCAA and conducted in October 2020.
In Essential English and Essential Mathematics, it will be two internal school-based assessments and a common internal assessment developed by the QCAA and completed by students in Term 4.
After reviewing QCAA's specific advice for each learning area, changes to the Caloundra SHS Year 12 2020 assessment schedule have been made and the newly published document can be accessed here. Teachers will advise their Year 12 students of the new due dates.
YEAR 12 VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATE COURSES
To achieve a vocational certificate, students must complete ALL units of competency listed in the endorsed training and assessment strategy (TAS) to a satisfactory standard. As such, there can be no relaxation of completion requirements. Students are expected to complete theory work online while at home, so that time at school can be devoted to the practical work required for course completion. During Term 2, students are expected to submit the scheduled theory tasks to their teacher each week. Teachers will assess these tasks, provide feedback and indicate where work must be attempted again and resubmitted to achieve a competent standard.
