Our core business is the teaching and learning of our students, who are our future. Our aim is to provide the optimum learning environment to enable students to achieve all they can be. This is the goal of the Teaching and Learning Department by developing teacher capacity and providing a range of opportunities for students to challenge themselves.
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
Benjamin Franklin
We follow ‘The Caloundra Way’ pedagogical approach, which combines the
best of educational research and pedagogical frameworks (for example Hattie:
Visible Learning; Marzano’s New Art and Science of Teaching and Archer’s
Explicit Instruction) and contextualise to our way of working at Caloundra
High. Our Signature Pedagogical
Framework focuses on 4 key pillars: Knowing the Learning; Curriculum; Pedagogy;
Assessment and Moderation. Guided by the
principles of intentional collaboration, alignment of a viable and guaranteed
curriculum, and precision in our purpose and delivery, we embed a process of
continuous reflection and adjustment at every stage to ensure every student at
Caloundra High succeeds.
